Ivar’s Acres of Clams has unveiled a whale of a transformation at this flagship location on Pier 54, located on Seattle’s Waterfront overlooking Elliott Bay. Ivar’s Acres of Clams just completed a stunning remodel, the biggest in its 79-year storied history. The down-to-the-studs remodel includes expanded indoor dining space, a new massive outdoor patio, expanded state-of-the-art kitchen and a completely refreshed interior that pays homage to our iconic restaurant’s roots. Upon entering Ivar’s Acres of Clams you will be immersed in the history and lore of Ivar’s and our flounder Ivar Haglund. Original features of the Pier, which opened in 1901, including exposed fir beams and a refurbished Galbraith-Bacon & Co sign from the original tenant (some say the Seattle Costco of its time) were restored. With a more airy feel and expansive views, diners will enjoy views of the Puget Sound, passing Washington State ferries and fireboats from historic Fire Station #3. If you prefer al fresco dining, enjoy a stunning, new outside patio deck. Bask in the open-air breeze while taking in the sights and sounds of Elliott Bay, including the tranquil passing of ferries – and the occasional seagull friend. To satisfy your craving for Northwest seafood, our chefs have created award-winning preparations to reflect the season’s bounty, yet still showcase Ivar Haglund’s world-famous original recipes. Choose from wild Alaska salmon, deep-water halibut, Alaska King Crab, Dungeness Crab, jumbo prawns, manila clams and weathervane scallops, just to name a few. Be sure to check out our Pier 54 Fish Bar, which offers take-out service of Ivar's classics including award-wining fish ‘n chips, chowder and other seafood favorites. As part of the local lore, feel free to feed a few fries to the seagulls. It’s a photo opportunity worth sharing!

This was a much better experience than our last visit. Great setting. Food was fantastic. Our server had a great attitude and personality though he seemed under staffed. Kitchen was slow considering the level of business

Love this place. We always stop here when we are visiting the North Pacific. It's nice that if you come early enough, you can actually get street parking. Staff is always friendly, helpful, knowledgeable of the menu, and full of suggestions. They make a awesome old fashioned. Food is always delicious and beautifully presented.

Food was delicious. Staff was delightful. The view was great. I had bacon wrapped halibut, and it was the best piece of fish I have ever eaten, by far. My son liked the fish n chips, and he is always hard to please. Wife loved the scallops. My portion was a little smaller than i expected, especially for the money. Will still make sure i repeat next time I am out here. It was so good that I am getting hungry again just writing this review.

Excellent atmosphere and views. Food is really good but greasy. Would eat there more often if my stomach could handle it.

Cannot say more good things about this place. Service was impeccable. Food was fantastic!! Everything was cooked to perfection. Absolutely loved it here. Will definitely be back next time we're in Seattle.

Really not that good. Spent some time with famy here. General opinion, fancy looking, basic tasting. Nothing here really that you can't get anywhere else for 20$ less.Cod is bland and dry.I give it a 1 because the staff is nice, food is a easy Zero on flavor and presentation.

Good happy hour prices and options for being on the water in downtown Seattle. The lounge area is nice and they also have a nice main dining section. The waitress was slow... And we had to go looking for her twice after not seeing her for over 10min. But all in all, a nice spot.

Great clam chowder with views of the water front.... We chose to dine in but there is also a walk up counter next door where you can sit outside... If you choose that watch out for the pigeons and seagulls

Very fresh seafood, prepared just right. Got the "Acre of Clams", a pound of tiny clams---very tasty, with perfectly cooked potatoes. Get extra bread to soak up all the broth! The clam chowder is very good, and the atmosphere just right for a seafood restaurant. If it's crowded and there's a wait, opt for the bar: open seating, nice tables or bar seats, very comfortable. The place is definitely worth the price.

Fantastic waterfront location! Old man Ivar knew what he was doing when he chose it. Nothing on the menu is substandard... If you are looking for a nice place to sit and enjoy the atmosphere then go sit inside and watch the boats while enjoying fresh seafood, cooked to perfection. If you don't have time to watch the water, grab some fish and chips from his walk up counter nextdoor and enjoy it on the go.

We went there for happy hour. They have discounts on a selection of appetizers/small plates. The salmon corn chowder was excellent and close to a meal by itself. The fried calamari was well prepared and not heavy with grease. The draft beer selection was in the small side but it was good enough to find something you would like. Service was prompt and friendly.

Beautiful restaurant with pretty standard food. Great if you want to bring some people from out of town to have a historic local favorite but I wouldn't come here just for dinner on a random date night. Still, the drinks are good and the staff are very friendly. The fish and chips are the same standard frozen cod you'd get anywhere and the ($60) seafood plate is not as phenomenal as the price tag suggests.

Loved the big open space and the view. The openness make the area feel more than just a restaurant and gives you a sense of privacy as the seating is spaced out well. When coming to Ivar's, you must get the clam chowder. Along with that, the cod was great as well if you're not looking to be stuffed. Based on the other dishes I saw, they can get very generous with the portions.

I was visiting my family. They heard Ivar's was a great place to eat. The fish was lightly breaded so you were enjoying the fish and not eating a crunchy piece of bread.

Great food, beautiful location, good people. Great gluten free options! This is my favorite Ivars location because of the menu selection but the setting is the best too with great decor (love the boats in boxes modeled after real boats) and great views. Amazing clam chowders (TWO gluten free), that aren't available anywhere else. Good service rounds it out as a favorite place, especially to take out of town guests.

Ivar’s was so good. We didn’t want to eat at the fast food Ivar’s because there were pigeons in the room. Sorry, not eating with birds. So, we chose to eat inside and it was delicious. The service could’ve been better which is why I gave it 4-stars. I got the halibut $18 lunch course with clam chowder. So good!

We ate at Ivar’s acres of shrimp the evening of February 28th, beautiful view of the harbor and the distant snow capped mountains. Food was pretty good. We ate mostly off of the Happy Hour menu. We ordered the Calamari, 4oz Steak, Clams, and Coconut shrimp, all were very good. The fried items were a little soggy, still tasty none the less. The steak was actually my favorite, the herb butter on top was delightful and the Yukon potato’s were chunky and delicious. The ambiance of the restaurant is also very nice, fire places add a warm touch! (About $60 bucks for all mentioned + 1 beer)

We had a window seat by the water so the view was wonderful, particularly the sunset. We had an 18 month old boy. The server was very nice and brought him things quickly including crayons. The food was great, especially the seafood chowder.

We were on a layover in Seattle and went to Ivar's for lunch. Had a great window seat looking out on the water. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Our waiter was attentive and helpful. They have a sampler of the 3 chowders that is very good. The ambiance is upscale without the prices to match. We'll go again.

Questions & Answers

Yes. Definitely eat outside, don't eat in the restaurant. The outdoor version is more authentic Ivars

We just came out with new menus on Friday, which feature a 10oz center cut Top Sirloin during dinner. Please check it out: https://www.ivars.com/locations/acres-of-clams#menus

Not at this time!

I had "clams and chips" and they were strips.

Good talk

It is definitely top quality stuff. It's like a good steak house - you get what you pay for and it's not a every night kinda place which makes it special. Jess hit it on the button with happy hour. Other options might be the casino buffet or Skipper's if you don't want to pay the price.

No, unless it is a service dog. Emotional support animals do not fall under this category.
